L'oreal Colour Infallible eyeshadow review!

 Hey guys!

Just a quick post on a range of eyeshadows I got a while ago and thought I'd do a mini review on them. These are the L'oreal colour infallible loose-ish eyeshadows. I only have three colours out of the 13 available on the boots website, but I'm sure I'll get some more when I go back to uni/civilisation.

The three colours I have are Flashback Silver, Sahara Treasure and Permanent Khaki, I mainly use the gold and green ones.

Flashback Silver is a medium silver colour with purple undertones (that haven't come across in the picture -.-) I really like this colour, I just don't think silver is a very wearable day time colour. Permanent Khaki is a really lovely olive green colour that I'll use in a smoky eye or just all over the lid for a pop of colour. During the day I want to do my makeup as fast as possible and still get a polished look and because these shadows are metallic, they look darker in the crease as if you've spent a lot more time doing your eyeshadow than you really have. Sahara Treasure is a really nice gold colour which is great for everyday and isn't too yellow so is still subtle.

I really like the formula of these eyeshadows as they're semi-pressed pigments, they come with a stopper in the lid. The formula is really smooth as well and they're nice to rub your finger in (a bit weird). I also found that they don't crease easily and as someone with oily skin, this is a major plus because I don't need to use primer like I would with normal eyeshadows.

Overall I like these eyeshadows and will probably be buying most of them when I get the chance!

Lipstick collection

Hey guys!

I just got home for the summer and I tipped out the contents of my makeup bag and started swatching the lip products I have brought home and thought I'd do a blog post on what I have!

These are the very few nude lipsticks I own, from left to right are:
ELF Studio Matte Lip Colour in Natural
ELF Studio Lip Liner and Blending Brush in Nude Pink (I just use it all over the lips) Rimmel Moisture Renew in Nude Delight
I'm very pale and my lips are quite pigmented already so I think nudes really wash me out so I don't wear them very often.

These are the lighter pink shades I own and again, from left to right are: ELF Lipstick in Classy Maybelline Colour Sensational in Stellar Pink Max Factor Lipfinity Lasting Lip Tint in 03 Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain in Frenzy

These are the colours I'll wear at home and when I'm seeing my Mum haha.

These are darker pink shades that I'll wear everyday at uni and on nights out. Left to right: Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie (sparklier than I thought it was)
Revlon Lip Butter in Sweet Tart
Revlon Lip Butter in Lollipop
Maybelline Super Stay 10H Tint Gloss in Forever Fuchia
ELF Lipstick in Gypsy
I've really fallen for the Revlon lip butters because I always have really dry lips and usually like to keep my lips matte which is very drying but I love how these feel on my lips.

The next are more coraly or orangy, I wasn't sure where to put them so I made a new category ha. Left to right this time:
MAC Satin in Sail La Vie from the Hey Sailor! Collection
Maybelline Super Stay 10H Tint Gloss in Forever Coral
MAC Amplified in Watch Me Simmer from the Shop MAC collection
These are the only two MAC lipsticks I own and I absolutely love them. Especially Watch Me Simmer, it's just a gorgeous colour!
Finally are my Reds, I don't have many, but I want to get more, probably Russian Red from MAC. So from left to right are:
Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate in 01 Maybelline Super Stay 10H Tint Gloss in Endless Ruby
Revlon Just Bitten in Gothic
When the Maybelline tint glosses came into Boots I got excited and bought most of them because it was buy one get one half price and now I keep going back and can't find Lasting Pink :(

But those are my lipsticks that I have with me at the moment, I've become a little lipstick crazy lately, I didn't have any of these a year or two ago :S haha
Now I've got a lovely stained arm so I shall post again soon

 Hayley xx

P.S. Not sure what happened with the spacing, still pretty new at this :S

Back from Uni!!

Hey Guys!
Just wanted to apologise for the lack of posts, I've had exams and wanted to focus on them rather than blog, but I'm back from uni and thought I'd do a mini series on what products I brought back with me, this is also a kind of haul because a lot of the stuff I've brought home, I've got recently so I'll be doing reviews on those as well.
Just thought I'd include a photo of whats to come!
And this isn't including my current everyday makeup so I might do a post on that as well ;)

Thanks for reading

March GlossyBox - Harrods Edition

It's that time again!
Just one thing I'd like to point out is that GB hasn't put any of the prices on the little card this month...maybe after the backlash of massively different value between boxes? Just a thought that made me smile :P

Anyway, onto the box. I had caved and looked at what was in some of the boxes last week so I knew what may be coming. But I really liked my box, and although there were two anti-aging products, they're both from brands I've never owned, and I am turning 20 this year so I may as well get started on anti-aging!

So the box I got included:
1. Narciso Rodriguez - For Her Eau de Parfum. I actually really liked this sample, I sprayed it on my wrist and I can still smell it. It is kind of floral and it smells really warm (if that makes sense). I forgot to take a picture but it's just a spray sample that I might put in my handbag.

2. Molton Brown - Heavenly Gingerlily moisture bath and shower - Vitamin-rich fruit extracts boost the skin and invigorate the senses.
This smells really nice and a little bit floral and a little bit fruity at the same time. It's a very subtle scent. I got a little excited because when I went to the Azores with uni last summer (2011) there were gingerlillies everywhere. The bottle also says it has macadamia oil in it, so that'll be nice. I've got so many body washes to try out, I'm just a little scared because my skin is quite sensitive and breaks out a lot so I don't like putting different things on my skin :(

3. YSL - Forever Youth Liberator Serum - A powerful serum enriched with 3 glycans to help increase youthful activity in skin cells.
I'm a little bit excited about this, I've never been able to get anything from YSL because it's just too expensive for me. I'm going to use this, even though I'm pretty young because for things like this to work, you have to use them before a problem develops. I also like how it comes with like a pipette lid, because I do biology and spend a lot of time in the lab, it feels really sciency...that's a little sad isn't it?
Also it's a really cute bottle :3 haha

4. Burberry Beauty - Minitiure Lip Mist Copper No202 - With a balmy, lip-loving formula, Lip mist offers sheer colour with an irresistible gloss shine.
This is a really nice, glossy lipstick and the packaging is so cute and tiny! This feels really moisturising on my lips which is good seeing as I cannot stop biting my lips and they're always in terrible condition. It's a nice pinkish nude colour and goes on really sheer which is always nice for everyday.

5. Clarins - Extra Firming Body Cream - A formula rich in regenerating and firming plant extracts which immediately helps to lift and tone, for firmer skin and a younger looking body.
Now I definitely need some toning in some areas and this is a very thick cream that feels really good as you rub it in. It has a slight smell but it smells really clean and a little bit like peach. I'm looking forward to giving this a try because I've never used a Clarins product before and I've heard some great things.

Overall I am very pleased with my GlossyBox this month even though, yet again it's mostly body products rather than makeup. But I can't wait to see what next month will bring. I'm only getting the April and May boxes before I go home and I can't get it anymore. (My mum wouldn't approve -.-)

Thanks for reading guys!

February Glossybox!

Hey Guys!

So I got my Glossybox this morning, I was watching for the postman all morning and when he came down the street I watched him until he came to my house. Now I cheated (as I generally do) and I went onto the Glossybox page and looked at what everyone who had already got theirs had said. Some were very happy and others were outraged, apparantly there was an £18 difference in alue between the boxes, with one having a full sized product worth £20 and others having their full sized product worth £1.99. Now you can guess which one I got, I always seem to get the worst box they send out, I think they have it in for me haha.

But without firther ado, this is my box:
So this is my box, the little purple bottle is the 'full sized' product worth £1.99. Woo!
I'm going to type out what's written on the card and then say what I think about each item, I haven't really tried them out, I'm just going on first impressions, so here we go!

1. DuWop Venom Gloss-Combining subtle tinted lip gloss with DuWops lip venom to create venom gloss (what a stupid blurb...).
This is supposed to make your lips tingle, and it does, but I'm not sure if its the most comfortable feeling in the world, it feels rather similar to when I've bitten my lips too much. But it smells like fireballs (the sweets if you know what I'm talking about. Okay, so I put it on when I wrote that its supposed to tingle and I feel like wiping it off. It's a shame because its a nice golden peach colour. I think its cinnamon that makes it tingle...and it hurts. Gone now haha.

2. Dr Bronner magic liquid soap-a combination of organic extra virgin coconut, olive, jojoba and hemp oils, together with pure essential oils.
Okay I'm going to be honest, and this is lavendar scented, I hate the smell of lavendar, so I probably won't even use this, I've used another item in this box that I'll get onto in a minute and thats already annoying me haha. I might give this to someone who likes lavendar, unfortunately my mum doesn't like lavendar either so yeah =/
3. Paul Mitchell Round Trip-This liquid curl definer is fast drying for enhanced curls in an instant.
According to the side of the bottle, this makes your hair dry faster and enhances your natural waves. So I'm looking forward to trying this in the morning because I've been using Herbal Essences Tousle me softly, and I've noticed that my hair has more definition in my natural waves, so if this adds even more to that then I'm excited.
4. BM Beauty Pure mineral eyeshadow-award winning pure mineral eyeshadow. Cruelty free and suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
I feel like I'm going to start of a mineral kick after I bought the elf mineral foundation and following that trend I really like this item. I got it in noir, and other people are saying it is matte, but mine has a definite sparkle to it. It has really really minute glitter sparkles in it and I think it'll be so pretty smoked out for a night out. The packaging really does look like a sample though, like one of those travel pots you can buy or you get from a department store. I also like how its cruelty free :D
5. Como Shambala invigorate body lotion-a revitalisng blend of essential oils that puts you in a perfectly uplifted mood.
I got lavendar. So this did not put me in a perfectly uplifted mood. The formula feels very moisturising, but the perfume is so strong it smells disgusting. I might keep it in my bag for when I notice dry patches on my skin (which seems to be happening a lot at the moment, I wish it would warm up a bit). When it soaks in a bit, it smells kind of like a sweet I can't put my finger on, I think it's love hearts. But there's a bizarre blend of lavendar and peppermint with eucalyptus and geranium...never heard of a combo like that before.

I'm not too sure about this box, especially with the massive difference in the values of boxes, I know it's about trying new things, but you would think they would make it fair amongst everyone.
In light of this, I've subscribed to another beauty box I haven't heard of before called She Said Beauty, this one is £9 a month plus £2.95 delivery and if you order before the 27th of Feb, you get 25% off of your first box.
Plus unlike the other beauty boxes which are mostly pink or black, this one is turquoise with pink lining :D best combo ever! But I'll blog about that when it arrives at the end of March, I think it's their first box so I'll let you know then!

Thanks for reading this very long blog post haha

elf haul!

Hey guys, it's me again!
Sorry for the delay between the last post and this one, I've just been swamped at uni and didn't feel like doing uni work, going to uni and this all at once. Hopefully it won't happen again!

So I was thinking about doing a small series about what ELF products I have as I got my latest order in the post today which was just a few things I picked up during the 30% off sale. When I say a few, I mean eight things, but my order still only came to £16 so you can't really argue with that!

So here's what I got:
(I also got some of the elf shine eraser oil blotting sheets and the mineral powder foundation, I just forgot to add them in when I took the photo, oops)

I got four lip products:
elf lipstick in Classy, which looks really bright in the tube but goes on quite sheer and is kind of a 'my lips but better' colour for me as I have quite pigmented lips anyway. Also, just have to say that this lipstick smells amazing, they kind of smell like calpol (if you know what that is) but a lot sweeter. Major plus haha.
I also got the last two elf studio matte lip colours that I don't already have and I'm not too sure about either of these, I got coral and tea rose. Coral is obviously a coral colour, but I think I'm far too pale to pull it off and it just looks a bit orange on my lips. Tea rose looked like a light pink on the website but when it arrived I found out that it was a lilac-y colour. I don't have a lilac lipstick so that's new for me, but again as I'm so pale it just sort of looks like I'm very very cold. So I'm not sure about that, might have to give them to someone with darker skin than mine.
I also got one of their elf studio lip liner and blending brushes, I now have two of these and I tend to use them just on their own, blending them in so they're more like a lip stain. I got this in the colour wine, which is a dark plum-y red colour. This definately looks a lot better with my skin tone. I always seem to wear really vibrant colours on my lips, I think it enhances my skin tone and just makes my lips stand out more. This is a really lovely colour and blends out so it doesn't look so vampy so that  you could wear it during the day.

I also got an elf studio blush in the shade Tickled Pink and this is a really nice,  subtle colour which adds a bit of colour to your cheeks but isn't super overpowering. I really like the packaging of the blushes and eyeshadows as they're a kind of rip-off of nars' packaging. I like how there's a mirror in the lid and the formula feels really velvety on the skin.

I've recently been rethinking how I choose eyeshadows, usually I would got for whatever purples or greens were available and completely bypass the nude or brown shades. But I was thinking that as I have blue eyes and orange is the colour that would most compliment them, I should start looking for coppery or bronze toned eyeshadows. So that's why I got Sunset, a single eyeshadow from the elf studio line. It looks a bit brown in the picture, but in real life its like a golden coppery colour. It's very orangy, so I may have to tone it down a little bit but I really like the pigmentation and the formula feels really nice.

Finally I got the elf mineral foundation in fair, I can't really say anything about this yet as I haven't used it properly, I can just say that I had a really hard time trying to get the product through the sifter, I had to really bang it about in the end haha.

Overall I'm pleased with what I got and can't wait to start using everything!

Mascara review

Hey guys!
So today I had to go into town because I was putting on the mac foundation I bought yesterday and knew it wasn't right. It made me look orange! So I went and exchanged that for the nc15 version. I've just tried it out whilst doing the mascara tests and it's definitely my skin tone this time!
Then I went to Boots and I only went in for some conditioner and some Palmers cocoa butter but there were so many great offers on I couldn't help myself.

Peep Show by Boots 17 (9ml) RRP £6.29 with an introductory £1 off and a free Peep Show quad. 'Where'd ya get those peepers? Flash your lashes with our fibre-rich formula which lengthens lashes from root to tip. Voluptuous volume and no clumps...just a full, flirty flutter'.

I really liked this mascara, I've always liked Boots 17 mascaras, I used their Va Va Voom volumising mascara for ages and loved it. The brush is thicker at each end and thinner in the middle and the whole wand is slightly bent so it's easier to get into the inner corner. The formula is thick which helps volumise the lashes. Overall I really liked this.

Rimmel Day 2 Night (waterproof) RRP £7.99 and I bought it for £5.99. Plus there's 9.5ml in the tube.
Multi-tasking, 2in1 Defined length/intense volume mascara. Top cap: Exceptionally defined and ultra lengthened lashes. Bottom cap: Thickens Lashes with voluptuous, oversized volume, no clumps
Left: Peep Show. Right: Rimmel Cap 1-Length
Left: Peep Show. Right:Rimmel Cap 2-Volume

I somehow preferred the first cap to the second, there wasn't much formula on the brush so the lashes look very natural. However the brush feels very flimsy because there's this tiny cap and thin wand and it feels like you're going to break it. It also takes a bit of work to get the lashes fully coated.
The second cap has way too much product on it. When you first apply it, you get spider lashes and it takes a few swipes to get the amount of product to calm down. It ends up with a nice finish, it just takes a little work to get there. Plus it doesn't look anywhere near as dramatic as the Peep Show.

Finally I bought Revlon Custom eyes (5.6ml) RRP £9.99 but there was an offer that all Revlon Mascaras were £5. Also for some reason because I bought this and Peep Show I also saved another £1.
There's no blurb on this one, just a twisty cap where you can either select: 1. Length and Drama or 2. Length and Definition. I've compared this one with the Rimmel mascara, applying the No.1's to my lashes and then the No.2's.
Left: Rimmel Length. Right: Revlon Length and Drama
Left: Rimmel Volume. Right: Revlon Length and Definition
Comparing the first caps of both these mascaras, the rimmel won right away, I'm not a fan of the flexible rubber wand on the Revlon and it was more difficult to apply. The Revlon seemed very dry and took a lot of work to coat my lashes. My lashes also seem very straight...

When I applied the second cap, the Revlon was much better, it declumped the first cap and seperated my lashes a lot better than the first cap. The Rimmel just made my lashes look spidery..this picture looks awful. I've still got it on and I think that it may be exaggerating a little bit because they look okay in person.

Overall the best mascara of these three is the Boots 17 Peep show, it applied nicely and is very dramatic. Next is the Rimmel Day2Night as the wand is good and it gives you dramatic lashes. Finally is the Revlon Custom Eyes mascara as the brush is awful and you don't get much product for the price compared to the others. Also I have no idea how this works as turning the cap while the wand is out makes no difference and doesn't seem to do anything when its in the tube...can someone explain that one to me?

VERY small MAC haul

Hey guys!
So today I got my student loan so I went to MAC as a treat. I had run out of my MAC prep + Prime face primer and my foundation was running seriously low.
I went in and asked the lady what shade I would be in the MAC studio fix fluid as I already use the revlon colorstay and heard that the two were quite similar. She tried out a few on my face and said that I should use the NC20 shade. She also added in the pump you have to buy seperately without asking me, I naively thought I was getting it for free but obviously not. Oh well.

When I got them home I tried out the foundation and found that it was a little thicker than the Revlon colorstay and that it blended in very well. Also the finish is a lot less shiny than the Colorstay and the finish almost meant that I didn't have to put powder on because I prefer a matte finish and don't like having a shiny face. I still put some on, mostly where I had applied concealer and my t-zone.

Then I compared the shades between the MAC NC20 and Colorstay Buff and the difference is obvious:

However both seem to match my skin tone (admittedly I haven't worn the mac outdoors yet so that will be the test) I'm not sure whether a nc15 would have suited me better. But oh well, I've been wanting to try this foundation for ages and couldn't wait to get it when my other ran out after hearing so many good things about it.

I'll probably do another post when I've been using it for a while or put an edit on this post to say how I've been getting on with it.

The only other things I bought today was some of the Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly shampoo, because since I started using the Lee Stafford shampoo, my scalp's been very sore and dandruff-y. So I've replaced that but I forgot while I was in Boots that I'd run out of conditioner -.- haha
I also bought some John Frieda Precision Foam Colour in the shade 10N because my hair has been getting darker over winter and my extensions aren't blending as well any more :(

Hi, My name's Hayley and as my New Years resolution I will be starting a beauty blog so I can write about all the things I love to do with beauty!

I absolutely love makeup and am always trying out new things and expanding my collection. Much more recently I have been getting into nail art and posting pictures on my facebook page for my friends to look at. I get a lot of my inspiration from beauty gurus off of YouTube and am always looking for new gurus to subscribe to.

My first post will be on the things I use everyday, absolutely love and cannot live without.

Hope you enjoy!
